The Servant King

Two weeks ago we were encouraged by Paul to search ourselves and share some examples of putting our head knowledge into ‘action’. Those who attended the Zoom men’s group session agreed that it was the right way to respond.

Now that we’ve had time to do some ‘soul-searching’ I would like to explore those prompts and responses further.

There is truly a world full of adventure ahead of us, but often we take the easy way out and procrastinate. For those who don’t know that word, it simply means to ‘put off doing something’. I’ve done that, and still do. How about you?

Journeying through the adventures that God has for each of us involves a shift from procrastinating to active responses.

These may include some or all of the following (and there are many more):

  • Praying
  • Seeking
  • Confirming
  • Serving
  • Waiting (active waiting such as the Israelites’ 40-year desert experience! Doing things while we wait.)
  • Looking at things through Jesus’ eyes.

Octavius Winslow put it like this:

‘So completely was Jesus bent upon saving sinners by the sacrifice of Himself, that He actually created the tree upon which He was to die, and nurtured from infancy the men who were to nail Him to the accursed wood.’

When we look through our own eyes face-to-face with a scene or problem, the response is only within the information we have poured into our brains. When we look through Jesus eyes, we’re looking through the immeasurable ‘un-limits’ of creation. This enables a whole new meaning to His call for us to love our enemy.

Let’s reflect on what Jesus has done for us and follow Him with all our heart. That will be followed by wisdom and strength that, together with the Holy Spirit, will equip us to SERVE, as Jesus did and does!

I invite you to watch The Servant King video [click here to watch] Ask Jesus to show you things through His eyes about what SERVICE He may be calling you to focus on.

Some points you may either ask Jesus, or soul-search yourself before you join the Zoom meeting:

  1. Where do I see myself on the scale with PROCRASTINATION at one end, and SERVICE at the other?
  2. Is Jesus’ wanting me to move up that scale, that is more Service?
  3. How is Jesus showing me to change my approach to Service? Am I thinking more about WHAT I do, or HOW MUCH I do in Service?

Blessings
