Young Men's Small Groups

Never before in the history of mankind have young guys had access to so much information and graphic imagery. Not all of this is helpful and in fact some of it can be extremely harmful. Now more than ever, you need the tools to be able to determine good choices from bad as you take on the challenge of stepping up to biblical manhood.

Promise Keepers Transition Event is designed to help young guys make wise decisions in life as they are confronted with choices about careers, family, peers and dating.

We believe a key factor in helping you to make wise choices in life is being involved in a young men’s small group. By small group we mean a group of approximately 7 young guys meeting together on a regular basis. Statistically we know that you will grow up to 7 times faster spiritually in a small group than trying to do this on your own. Proverbs 11:14 says, “Out of a multitude of counsellors comes wisdom”.

It is important to choose your friends wisely because the decisions you make will be affected by their advice and wisdom.” Proverbs 12:26 says, “The righteous should choose his friends carefully, for the way of the wicked leads them astray.”

The decisions you make now form the foundations for your life. It is important that you base these decisions on something that is solid, immovable, unchangeable and reliable. Essentially this is the Word of God. We need help to interpret how the Word of God impacts our life. Firstly, when Jesus rose from the dead he sent the Holy Spirit to bring His Word to life. As we seek to apply this in our lives, wise friends are invaluable for helping to keep us on track.

It is vital to keep connected to the local church through your youth group. Seek out men who are role models in the church, men of wisdom who you can seek advice from for the vital decisions that you make in life. Particularly when it comes to finances and career, as they can bring generational wisdom. In other words, they have “been there and done that”. It makes sense to get input from men who have walked where you are walking, so you don’t repeat their mistakes!
