| Developing the Team for Ministry with Men Promise Keepers has observed that the great downfall for effective Ministry to Men is the lack of a focused and cohesive team. Often one willing and enthusiastic man has been asked to lead Men’s Ministry. This has proved a recipe for disaster. This man may succeed on his own for a period, but is often taken out by work and family commitments, burnout or sheer exhaustion and the Men’s Ministry then fails until the next man is selected and the same process is repeated. This has been one of the basic reasons for the stops and starts that have existed in a lot of Men’s Ministries. It is therefore important not to be reliant on just one man. Men’s Team Ministry to Widows, Solos and People in DistressA husband dies or a marriage breaks down. The church rallies around to meet the crisis and support the widow or solo mum. As months pass, people assume that everything is now somehow OK, sort of normal. Usually, however, the huge sense of loss continues and is reinforced by many practical problems. From financial management, home and car maintenance to kicking a soccer ball around with the kids, there are ongoing needs that don’t simply disappear.Promise Keepers is excited to work with New Commandment Men’s Ministries (NCMM) to promote a proven, sustainable model of a team of four men working long term to help one widow or solo mother (care receiver). This is a natural fit for existing Men’s Small Groups to give them a life-giving outward mission focus. The commitment is a manageable 3 hours per month on a Saturday morning. The benefit is that they pour the love of Christ into one person, thereby giving the person a “megaphone” to tell others about the love of Christ that they are experiencing. READ MORE |

Leverage Special Holidays to Boost the ChurchSome churches used Fathers’ Day to invite people to a special service. St Stephens Anglican Church on the Hibiscus Coast displayed a banner made by the children for the day. Fathers were asked for their views of the kids. Older fathers were asked to share advice for younger fathers. The most popular response was - to spend time with families. |
