GOD RELEASES HIS POWER ON MEN'S LIVES IN CHRISTCHURCH

Christchurch Event is characterised by the wonderful atmosphere of the venue, the historic Majestic House. An ex-theatre now used as a church, it has great acoustics and everyone feels close to the action.

Many men also travel long distances to be at Christchurch. Large groups came all the way from Motueka and the West Coast. Road trips create some strong bonds.

Grace Church, Richmond (near Nelson) scored the “Best Men’s Group” Award, fending off strong competition from Motueka Baptist. Some real wisdom and encouragement was imparted by the speakers, but they were overshadowed by the way God moved on the men.

Read men’s comments about what God has done in their lives at Promise Keepers:

I was sitting one hand on my family photo, the other hand facing the front. The Holy Spirit hit me – I had a river of tears and they just flowed out of me. Tears of gratitude and joy. I was spirit filled all weekend.
It just fills me up spiritually. We run a food bank. Such a lot of broken people and [we] speak life into them, go to the prisons. We do a lot with people in early recovery. It’s great to have a spiritual filled weekend for my own wellbeing. Daniel - Leeston

Music and praise and worship very good. Ken - Oxford

Made me more aware of the feelings of men on the fringes of the church. Looking for ways of making them feel more welcomed. John - Chch

Great music, powerful ministry. The wisdom and humility of the various speakers is inspiring, leading me to understand and believe that God can do great things through me if I let Him. My commitment is just that – to let God use me as I surrender more and more of my life to Him. Expect great things!
It has given me a stronger focus and an awareness of where I am now and where I need to get to. The Activity and Outcomes grid is a very useful tool, giving clear direction.
The Event has confirmed God’s call on my life and that I am on track.
Very good, really enjoyed it. Bob - Ashburton

Enjoyable – learned freedom. Alister - Chch

Gets better every year. Professional drama team. Stephen - Chch

Very moving and inspiring. An emotional experience which has changed my mind about Promise Keepers and probably my future.
The passion for God was awesome to experience and I know it gladdened His heart.Inspired speakers who were not afraid to be real and show their human weakness. It’s inspiring to see such honesty and humility in our leaders and [this] spoke as powerfully as their teaching did.
Men’s ministry will now start in our church as a result of this life changing conference.
I really only came to check PK out after having a (false) perspective that PK was a legalistic, works oriented organisation like one I had previously been associated with. How wrong was I?
There was a strong presence of God’s Spirit which touched everyone I’m sure. The people going forward to receive Christ as Saviour was amazing to behold at a conference which I thought was for established believers. Andrew - Chch

I am truly encouraged by being with the men, especially when I meet with my old mates from the West Coast. Robert - Lyttelton

Program design and execution matches the best in my church and military and worker experience. “Well done!”.
It was great to be amongst a bunch of guys focused on Jesus! I will try to develop a “band of brothers”. I will encourage Christians (male/female) to be an INFLUENCE on others.
I live the PK 7 commitments anyway, but laying them out helps me to be focused.
Neal - Chch

The Women’s Perspective:

Daniel comes home inspired refreshed and encouraged and with a new refreshing of the Holy Spirit. He tells me of people he has met and some of what they talk about and do and I can see how it builds up his spirit and gives him renewed hope and you just think that it was meant to be. He is blessed by going and blesses those he encounters. Leonie – Leeston

With so much pressure on men and families these days, it’s great my husband has had this opportunity to be encouraged in the things of God with a group of like-minded men. Carolyn - Chch

Thanks to Promise Keepers for being affirming of men’s role in the church, home and in society. Valma - Nelson
