Jim Hurn's Blokes Night Out

Blokes Nite Out Nationwide Tour

Jim Hurn has wrapped up an awesome tour. Jim and Kaye have traveled all around New Zealand from Kaitaia to Bluff and everywhere in between. That’s over 8,000km in the motorhome! These meetings gave 2,256 men a practical insight into the characteristics that promote success at work. It was helpful, encouraging and inspirational.

If you were there last time, you know what a superb communicator Jim is. He relates to his audience really well. The topic this time is ‘Winning at Work”, which has a huge relevance to our lives as men. Jim brings a Christian angle to it in a low key, “cringe free” way that makes the meetings comfortable for your non-Christian friends and workmates.

If you have attended a previous “Blokes Nite Out” you will know & appreciate the meeting format & 2005 was the same. Meet & greet at the door with a drink & nibbles in your hand. Jim gets an introduction then its about 40 minutes of information & inspiration helped along with powerpoint, all given in a friendly & informal atmosphere. At the conclusion Jim gives a short, clear statement on what it means to be a follower of Christ Supper follows with opportunity for meaningful conversation about the evening

Just a brief report on Jim's visit, topic, "Winning in the Workplace"

Around one hundred guys turned out despite a hot evening, 28 degrees plus, New Zealand in the finals of the Sevens in Wellington and speedway on in Richmond with the NZ champs on side cars.A real relaxed atmosphere with great gems were shared by Jim with years of wisdom and experience that went with the talk. Great time had by all including a draw for a meal out for two.

QUEENSTOWN

In true form ‘Tornado Jim Hurn” hit town and the lives and hearts of 56 men from iconic landmarks such as Roxburgh, Alexandra, Cromwell, Arrowtown, Queenstown and even a mature ex – Mustang pilot on holiday from Jim’s home town of Tauranga, whose name was Ken not Snoopy, will never be the same.

An informative, practical and humorous hour ensued where Jim focused and expanded on key elements to being winners in the workplace and in our lives.

3 primary qualities needed ranging from character and what that really means to the task skills and know-how required to effectively work well with people and cope with pressure and stress at work were addressed

Blokes being ‘blokes’ were fairly short on words when giving feedback but were universal in describing Jim’s presentation, the fellowship and cuisine as ‘awesome”.

Tornado Jim is a real live wire, ( it’s no coincidence that Jim was an electrician during his working career!) He has a zest for life, a deep love for God and people and the wisdom and humour to make a huge difference in your workplace. So get along to hear Jim in a town near you and take some mates with you. You won’t regret it!
